Get the most out of your strongest keywords

In our last post we talked about adding keywords to your organic search campaign. Where do you start? Well, here’s a good tip for you. If there are particular keyword threads where your website already ranks well, it makes sense to capitalise on this.

Let’s say you are a furniture manufacturer and your home page ranks really well (i.e. top 3 in Google) for ‘designer furniture’. It would make sense for you to target the word ‘designer’ across all of your category pages also, meaning you also rank for ‘designer bedroom furniture‘ and so on. Google already sees your website as highly relevant for the word ‘designer’, so this value should cascade down to your inner pages also.

Another example – let’s say you are a printing company who ranks well for ‘cheap printing‘. Make sure you and the word ‘cheap’ across all your category pages, and you’ll soon start to see traffic in your Analytics for things like ‘cheap flyers’ or ‘cheap business cards’.
